01 · Real Dervoss deliverable
Marked safe-to-drill zones
Findings marked directly on the slab or wall: rebar, post-tension cables and conduits flagged where they run. Your crew drills the same day.
Subsurface & Concrete — 01
Concrete scanning uses GPR to see inside a concrete slab or wall, locating rebar, post-tension cables and conduits, so you can drill, cut or core safely without hitting anything hidden.
Dervoss provides concrete scanning across Dubai, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, captured and produced by one in-house team.

01
One cut tendon costs more than a hundred scans.
02
Openings in slabs and walls need to know what's inside first.
03
Routing new services through existing structure, safely.
04
Verify reinforcement position, spacing and cover before works.
05
Whole floor plates, podium decks and car parks mapped in one pass, not spot-checked.
04 — How it works
Step 01
We survey or scan your site with survey-grade instruments: every surface and dimension captured in a single visit, with minimal disruption.
Step 02
The field data is processed, registered and checked into one accurate dataset, the verified foundation everything else is built on.
Step 03
Our in-house team produces your deliverables (drawings, maps, reports or Revit models), reflecting exactly what is on site.
Step 04
You receive your files in the agreed formats, with an accuracy statement. We stay available for revisions and questions after handover.
05 — In detail
The safe-to-drill markings and the scan report pictured above are real Dervoss outputs: the marks your crew works to, and GPR cross-sections showing rebar and post-tension cables inside a UAE slab. No other page in this market shows you the output before you order it; we’d rather you know exactly what you’re buying.
UAE slabs are dense with hidden risk: post-tensioned construction is standard in towers and podiums, conduits run live power through structure, and older buildings hide undocumented alterations. Hitting a PT tendon isn’t a repair item; it’s a structural incident with engineering assessment, load restrictions and programme impact. Hitting live power is worse. A rebar scan before coring is the cheapest insurance a contractor can buy, which is why our concrete scanning teams do same-day callouts across Dubai daily.
Single-channel GPR reads one line at a time, which is why concrete scanning is usually sold as a spot check: you mark the positions you intend to drill, and the scan tells you what sits under those positions. Mapping a whole floor plate that way means walking a grid line by line, and the cost stops making sense long before the area does.
Our Proceq GP8100 changes that arithmetic. It is a six-antenna array with a 25 cm effective scanning width, so a single pass records what previously took six line scans, at 1,200 scans per second. Stepped-frequency operation from 400 to 4000 MHz reads up to 80 cm into concrete, separates objects as close as 4 cm apart, and returns depths accurate to ±5 mm against a direct calibration.
What that buys you is coverage. Reinforcement position, spacing and cover depth across a full slab, deck or podium, delivered as a drawing rather than a set of marks on the floor: that is the input a structural engineer needs for strengthening design, a QA/QC team needs for cover compliance records, and an asset owner needs before committing to a refurbishment. In practice the GP8100 covers about 300 to 500 m² of slab in a working day, depending on access and the detail required.
Most concrete scanning in Dubai is sold as a bolt-on by cutting and coring contractors, the people whose saw is waiting. Dervoss scans as an independent survey specialist: our only job is telling you accurately what’s inside the concrete. Findings are marked on the slab, documented with depths in a report you can hand to the structural engineer, and, where the project needs it, delivered as a DWG layout that integrates with as-built drawings and renovation documentation. Coring through a ground-bearing slab? Pair the scan with utility mapping in one visit: what’s inside the slab and what’s directly beneath it.
Most of our concrete scanning work is ordered by contractors about to core, often for MEP penetrations in a fit-out or renovation: GPR concrete scanning marks the safe positions, the concrete coring crew drills the same day, and the scan report goes into the project file as evidence. Ordering the scan and the coring for the same morning is the usual arrangement in Dubai, and the scan typically takes under an hour for a standard set of penetration points.
06 — Why Dervoss for concrete scanning
One accountable team from site to finished deliverable: the people who survey your site produce your drawings and reports. No hand-offs, no subcontracted drafting, and a fixed quote with a committed delivery date.
01
No hand-off between a scanning company and an offshore drawing shop: the team that measured your site produces your deliverables.
02
Trimble X9 laser scanning and survey-grade instruments, accurate to ±2 mm, with an accuracy statement per delivery.
03
All seven emirates, Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC, with deliverables prepared for local authority requirements.
04
On site within 24 hours of a confirmed LPO; urgent concrete and utility scans often same-day.
07 — Questions
Concrete scanning uses GPR to look inside a slab or wall, locating rebar, post-tension cables and conduits, so you can drill, cut or core without hitting anything hidden.
We scan the area, mark findings directly on the surface, and hand over a report, usually all in the same visit. Your crew can drill the moment the marks are on the slab.
Rebar, post-tension cables, electrical conduits, voids and slab thickness, with depths, so you know not just where but how deep.
Yes. Our Proceq GP8100 is a six-antenna array covering a 25 cm swath per pass, so one run records what used to take six single-line scans. That makes full floor plates, podium decks and car park slabs practical to map rather than spot-check, and you receive reinforcement position, spacing and cover depth across the whole area as a drawing.
Priced per visit plus scan area: a small penetration check sits at the lower end, a full slab survey scales with area. Fixed quote before we start; full pricing factors in our cost guide.
If you don't know what's in the slab: yes. Post-tension cables are common in UAE construction, and cutting one is a structural incident, not a repair bill.
Dervoss scans with the Proceq GP8100, which reads up to 80 cm into concrete and gives depths accurate to ±5 mm. Typical UAE floor slabs are 200 to 400 mm thick, so the full depth of a normal slab, including the bottom reinforcement layer, is covered.
If nobody knows exactly what is inside the slab: yes. Book the scan for the same morning as the core cutting or core drilling. The safe positions are marked on the slab first, so the coring crew can start as soon as the scan is done. Dervoss scans; the coring itself is done by your contractor.
Same-day where teams are available; urgent scans are our daily business. Call or WhatsApp for today's availability.
Completely. Radio waves only: nothing is drilled or opened to perform the scan. Scan first, drill after.
GPR scanning does the same job as concrete X-ray without the radiation: no permits, no site evacuation, one-sided access, results on the spot. X-ray is now reserved for rare cases needing extreme image detail.
